The statement came from State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki , APA reports quoting the website of the U.S. Department of State.
“If we want to start operations in Syria against terrorists, we won’t need to obtain Bashar Assad’s permission. In any case, the final decision on this issue will be made by the president”, said Psaki.
Although his statement raised a lot of questions among journalists, he refused to give further details. When asked why the U.S. doesn’t want to negotiate with Damascas since the U.S. and Syria have diplomatic relations, Psaki said, “There’s currently no certain decision about it to discuss. No decision has been made to intervene in Syria”
He added that Secretary of State John Kerry will have a meeting with President Barack Obama, and it’s expected that crucial decisions on Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria will be made during the meeting.
