Wind speeds in Tropical Storm Hermine, which is expected to hit the US state of Florida on Thursday night, have increased to near 75 miles per hour (120 kilometers per hour), prompting its upgrade to a hurricane, the US National Hurricane Center said in a statement on Thursday, APA reports quoting Sputnik.
Heavy rains and strong winds will advance northeastward over parts of Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and New York as well as much of Delaware and New Jersey during Saturday and Saturday night. "Hermine is now upgraded to a hurricane, the fourth hurricane of 2016 in the Atlantic basin," the statement said.
