Baku-APA. Clinton’s running mate Tim Kaine said that the US Democratic nominee would strengthen Washington’s allies in Europe against Russia if she elected to be president of the United States, APA reports quoting Sputnik.

US Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton would strengthen Washington’s allies in Europe against Russia if she elected to be president of the United States, Clinton’s running mate Tim Kaine said in a national security speech on Tuesday.

"Hillary has a plan to support our allies to weaken the Kremlin’s hand and to advance America’s long-standing commitment to a Europe that is free, whole and at peace," Kaine stated. Clinton would support the United States’ NATO allies in Europe, Kaine explained. He contrasted Clinton’s plans to those of her Republican rival Donald Trump, who previously called NATO obsolete and has sought improved relations with Russia, especially with respect to fighting Islamic terrorism. Kaine noted that Clinton oversaw the US negotiations with Moscow on the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) in 2009.
