Baku-APA> At least five people were killed in the southern Mexican indigenous town of San Juan Chamula (state of Chiapas), including the town’s mayor, APA reports quoting Sputnik.
The deadly incident occurred on Saturday when a group of local residents gathered at the central town’s square to speak with local authorizes about the mayor’s refusal to finance public infrastructure and artisan crafts, the TeleSUR TV-channel reported.
Along with the city’s Mayor Domingo Lopez Gonzalez, a labor organizer, a municipal employee, a chauffeur and a local resident were killed. At least 12 other people were injured.
