White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy refused to agree to a cease-fire. Donald Trump, in turn, seeks peace, but Zelenskyy "puts the cart before the horse," insisting on security guarantees, APA reports.

White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said on Fox News that Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected the possibility of a cease-fire in Ukraine, which, according to her, contradicts Donald Trump's declared desire for peace. Leavitt said that during the meeting in the Oval Office, Zelenskyy immediately began demanding security guarantees for Ukraine, which was premature.

"In the Oval Office, Zelenskyy immediately began to promote the idea, putting the cart before the horse," Leavitt said.

She added that the negotiating groups are actively working, but President Trump wants to end the conflict first of all — he has repeatedly emphasized this in his campaign. However, the process requires consistent steps, and the Ukrainian side has not even agreed to a cessation of hostilities.

"If peace is the goal, how can we reject a cease—fire?" Leavitt noted.
