Multilateral institutions, including the UN, should be reformed, and the political influence of developing countries should be expanded, UN Secretary-General António Guterres said during his speech at the SCO Plus meeting, APA’s correspondent dispatched to Bishkek reports.
The UN Secretary-General noted that the conflicts in the Middle East have had far-reaching consequences and that ceasefire agreements continue to be violated.
He emphasized the importance of observing the ceasefire in Gaza, fully implementing the comprehensive plan aimed at ending the conflict, and immediately removing obstacles to humanitarian aid.
“Peace will not be possible without the establishment of two independent and sovereign states, Israel and Palestine, with Jerusalem recognized as the capital of both states, in accordance with international law and the relevant UN resolutions,” Guterres said.
He also called for a full and immediate ceasefire in Ukraine. According to Guterres, this should pave the way for negotiations to achieve a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace based on the UN Charter and relevant resolutions.
