US President Donald Trump has extended for one year a number of sanctions previously imposed on Russia in connection with the situation in Ukraine, APA reports.
Russia imposed by the administration of 46th US President Joe Biden in February 2022, by the Trump administration in September 2018 (during his first presidential term), and by the administration of 44th US President Barack Obama in March and December 2014 regarding Crimea. As the document emphasizes, Trump believes that all these restrictive measures "should remain in effect beyond March 6, 2026."
"The actions and policies addressed in these orders continue to pose an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy interests of the United States," the head of the Washington administration stated. "Therefore, <...> I am extending the [sanctions] emergency declared in Executive Order 13660 for one year," the American leader added.
