US President-elect Donald Trump does not want a repeat of the Minsk agreements, said Keith Kellogg, who is tapped to be the special envoy for Ukraine in the incoming administration, APA reports citing TASS.
"We've seen peace processes happen in the past. They've tried with Ukraine and Russia and the Minsk process, and failed visibly. The president's not going to go there," he said in an interview with Fox Business. "He wants a peace that's going to be fair, it's going to be sustainable, it's going to be secure."
"He understands the importance of the relations he's got with his allies and also with [Russian President] Vladimir Putin as well," Kellogg went on to say.
He expressed hope that the US president-elect will be able to achieve a settlement of the conflict in Ukraine in a "relatively near term."
