Baku-APA. Early voting in the key state of Ohio will proceed as planned ahead of the November 6 presidential election, the US Supreme Court ruled on Tuesday, allowing a lower court’s ruling to stand, APA reports.
The decision is seen as a victory for President Barack Obama’s reelection campaign.
Republicans had asked the Supreme Court to take up the case involving a state law that would have ended early voting during the three days before the election except for military personnel and residents living overseas.
A federal appeals court previously ruled for Obama and the Democrats, saying that if Ohio is going to allow in-person voting for members of the military on the Saturday, Sunday and Monday before the election, it must open the process to all voters.
