Baku-APA. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Saturday voiced hope that Turkey and Damascus could handle the downing of a Turkish military jet by Syria "with restraint and through diplomatic channels", APA reports quoting philstar.com website
Ban, in a note to reporters by his spokesman, described the incident as being "serious."
"The secretary-general is following the situation closely," the spokesman said in the note. "He hopes this serious incident can be handled with restraint by both sides through diplomatic channels."
A Turkish Air Force jet crashed into the Mediterranean Sea on Friday after being shot down by Syria, the Turkish premier’s office said in a statement Saturday.
