Colombian forces kill 7 guerrillas

Baku-APA. Seven members of Colombian guerrilla group National Liberation Army (ELN) were killed Thursday during a joint military operation, said the country’s air force, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The early morning raid, carried out by army and air force troops, "neutralized" a riverbank ELN camp in a rural zone in the northwestern department of Choco, according to an air force statement.

"The death in combat of seven narco-terrorists has been confirmed," and another one was captured, said the statement, without identifying the killed and detained.

The statement termed the operation as a "strong hit" against the ELN, which emerged in 1964 and is now estimated to have about 4,000 members.

On Wednesday, a similar operation killed eight members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, the largest rebel group in the South American country.
