U.S. has new pipeline application from TransCanada

Baku-APA. The U.S. State Department confirmed on Friday that it has received a new application from TransCanada Corp. for a proposed pipeline that would run from the Canadian border to an existing pipeline in Steele City, Nebraska, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

"The new application includes proposed new routes through the state of Nebraska," the agency said in a statement, saying it is " committed to conducting a rigorous, transparent and thorough review."

The original routes stirred controversy as they run through environmentally sensitive portions of Nebraska, and President Barack Obama rejected the so-called Keystone XL pipeline in January as the U.S. congress tried to force his administration to made a final decision by Feb. 21.

The State Department said it will consider the new application on its merits, which involves many factors including energy security, health, environmental, cultural, economic and foreign policy concerns.
