Fidel Castro: â€œIran war will be worst mistake in US historyâ€

Cubaâ€™s former president Fidel Castro has warned Washington against a military attack on Iran, describing such a move as the worst mistake in US history, APA reports quoting IRIB. In an article titled "The Roads Leading to Disaster," published in the official daily Granma on Thursday, Castro said there is no doubt that the US would be making the greatest mistake in its history if it decides to attack Iran in coordination with Israel.

Castro said Washington is wrong to think that Iranians in the countryâ€™s Armed Forces, who are known for their religious principles and fighting traditions, will surrender to the US without shooting a bullet.

In his reflection, Castro also defended Tehranâ€™s nuclear energy program and said Iran does not possess nuclear weapons, adding that Tehranâ€™s possession of the technology to enrich uranium is not equivalent to the production of nuclear weapons.

Castro also criticized the Westâ€™s nuclear double standards, noting that Israeli regime has manufactured nuclear weapons with the help and coordination of the US.

Iran rejects allegations of pursuing military objectives in its nuclear energy program, noting that as a committed signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency, it has the right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
