Baku-APA. The White House said Thursday that the U.S. remains committed to an Afghan-led process towards reconciliation despite Taliban’s announcement of suspending talks with the U.S, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

"We support an Afghan-led process towards reconciliation," White House press secretary Jay Carney said during his daily briefing. "There is no likely resolution to the conflict in Afghanistan without a political resolution."

The Afghan Taliban announced Thursday that it has suspended preliminary peace talks with the U.S.

"Islamic Emirate (name of the ousted Taliban regime) has decided to suspend all talks with Americans taking place in Qatar from today onwards until the Americans clarify their stance on the issues concerned and until they show willingness in carrying out their promises instead of wasting time," it said in a statement.
