Baku – APA. Turkey voted against the resolution of the U.N. Security Council imposing a fourth round of sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program, APA reports quoting turkishny.com web-page.
The 15-nation council passed the resolution earlier in the day. The resolution was approved with 12 ’yes’ votes, two ’no’ votes from Brazil and Turkey, and one abstention from Lebanon.
Diplomatic sources said that letters from the Vienna Group played a decisive role in Turkey’s call to vote against the resolution.
The same sources added that Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan talked to U.S. President Barack Obama on phone on Tuesday night.
