Baku – APA. A U.S. congressperson said on Friday that Turkey and the United States had common views on many issues. Virginia Foxx, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, attended a global leadership forum in Istanbul, organized by the Bahcesehir University, APA reports quoting turkishny.com web-page.
During the forum, Foxx expressed sorrow over the attack on "Mavi Marmara" ship that was carrying aid to Gaza.
Also speaking in the forum, Paul Wolfowitz, a former president of the World Bank, said Turkey was different from other Muslim countries, and Turkey was the best Muslim country that had religious tolerance and economic success.
Wolfowitz said Turkey was a success story, and the country had a bright future that could contribute to the future of the world.
The former World Bank president defined the incidents in Gaza as "tragic", and said every one had to focus on realities.
Wolfowitz also said Israel and Palestine needed a two-state solution, and there were many things Turkey could do to that end.
