Baku-APA. A 59-year-old attorney has been as elected as the first female prime minister in Trinidad and Tobago, APA reports quoting The Associated Press.
Preliminary elections results in the twin-island Caribbean nation indicate Kamla Persad-Bissessar and her five-party People’s Partnership coalition have won 29 of 41 seats in parliament.
She told thousands of supporters at a celebration early Tuesday morning that her government will not leave anyone behind.
Incumbent Prime Minister Patrick Manning conceded defeat late Monday night.
