Baku-APA. A U.S. official says President Obama’s Mideast envoy has wound up a second round of indirect peace talks with Israeli and Palestinian leaders, APA reports quoting Xinhua News Agency.
U.S. Embassy spokesman Kurt Hoyer says envoy George Mitchell left after meeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Thursday. Hoyer gave no details of the talks.
Netanyahu’s office said they discussed the possibility of goodwill gestures toward the Palestinians. It said Israel expects that during the talks, the Palestinians will refrain from political activity against Israel, citing as an example the unsuccessful campaign to prevent Israel’s acceptance into the OECD world economic body.
Mitchell also met the Palestinian president this week. The indirect talks are to continue for four months.
