Baku – APA. Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu arrived in Brazil Friday to hold formal talks. Davutoglu and his delegation will be received by Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva. Davutoglu will also meet with his Brazilian counterpart Celso Luiz Nunes Amorim at the second meeting of Turkey-Brazil High Level Cooperation Committee, APA reports quoting turkishny.com web-page.
Davutoglu’s talks are expected to focus on improving relations and cooperation between Turkey and Brazil and he will exchange views with Brazilian officials about international and regional issues that are on the table at the UN Security Council and G-20 in which both countries have seats.
At a time of controversies over new sanctions on Iran for its nuclear program, Turkey and Brazil, which are non-permanent members of the UN Security Council, have taken a joint stance and a dim view of sanctions.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Brazilian President Lula at the Nuclear Security Summit held last week in Washington. The two discussed ways to bring a joint proposal on Iran’s nuclear program, which is also expected to be on the agenda during the meeting between Davutoglu and Amorim.
Meanwhile, Turkish diplomats said Davutoglu will gather Turkey’s ambassadors and consuls-general across Latin American countries in Brazil for a meeting that is planned to discuss ways to improve relations with Latin America.
