Baku-APA. U.S. President Barack Obama and other world leaders paused Tuesday to honor Polish President Lech Kaczynski and members of his delegation killed in a plane crash last week, APA reports quoting Voanews.com web-page.
President Obama led a moment of silence Tuesday as he opened the second day of the nuclear summit in Washington.
Mr. Obama said he was shocked and deeply saddened by the loss of President Kaczynski. The Polish leader’s plane crashed Saturday in western Russia, killing Mr. Kaczynski, his wife and other Polish civilian, political and military leaders.
Mr. Obama said the tragedy was not just a loss for Poland, but a loss for the entire world. He said the international community will continue to rally around the Polish people, saying they have shown strength and resilience throughout their history.
