Fire forces jet airliner to make emergency landing in Canada

Ottawa –APA. An American Airlines jet airliner with 194 passengers and 12 crew members aboard flying from New York to Zurich was forced to land in Halifax Stanfield airport in Canada when an electrical fire broke out in the bathroom. There were no injuries and the passengers and crew are safe, said a spokesman of Halifax airport. The aircraft landed "without incident," said the spokesman, and the passengers "were evacuated to the ground by a set of air stairs." The emergency was caused by "fire in a fan motor in a mid cabin washroom," he added. American Airlines sent Boeing 767-300 to carry out the New-York-Zurich flight.
