Baku-APA. At least six persons were killed on Monday and 22 others injured in the mortar shells attack on Kadogli in Sudan’s South Kordofan State, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

"The mortar shells attack left 6 people killed, four women and two children, and 22 wounded including 10 children and nine women", the agency quoted South Kordofan Governor Ahmed Haroun as saying.

Haroun further said that South Sudan government was indirectly responsible for the incident, calling for the importance of breaking the link between the south and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) northern sector and the 9th and 10th infantry divisions of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA).

Sudan is accusing South Sudan of supporting the rebels of the SPLA/northern sector which is fighting the Sudanese army at South Kordofan and Blue Nile areas.

Sudan refuses to negotiate with the SPLM/SPLA/northern sector until after breaking the link with South Sudan, while South Sudan government refutes any relationship with the rebel movement in Sudan.

Sudan’s official Radio earlier reported that five people were killed and at least 23 others injured in the mortar shells attack, carried out by the SPLM/northern sector on Kadogli city in South Kordofan State.

Sudanese army spokesman Al-Sawarmy Khalid Saad earlier told Xinhua that an armed group, belonging to the SPLM/northern sector, infiltrated from the eastern side of Kadogli and fired mortars on the city which resulted in the killing of one woman and wounding of three other civilians.

He said the Sudanese army confronted the attackers and repulsed them, reiterating that the security in the city was now stable.

South Kordofan State has been witnessing armed clashes between the Sudanese army and the SPLM/ northern sector since last year.
