Egypt’s President meets Palestinian President Abbas

Baku-APA. Egypt’s President Mohamed Morsi met Thursday with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the Egyptian presidency headquarters, official news agency MENA reported, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

They discussed latest developments in the Palestinian reconciliation, ways to unify the Palestinian sides, and the Egyptian efforts to alleviate the Palestinian people’s misery.

The meeting was also attended by the Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr, Palestinian ambassador to Egypt Barakat al- Farra, and members of Fatah central committee Saeb Oraikat and Azzam al-Ahmed.

Abbas arrived in Cairo on Wednesday for a two-day visit during which he met with Arab foreign ministers in the 138th regular meeting of the Arab League (AL) held Wednesday.

He delivered a speech in the AL’s closed-door session, tackling the Palestinian bid for the UN membership, results of the investigation over the death of late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, among other Palestinian issues.

"Palestine wouldn’t accept any conditions from Israel that could prevent us from going to the UN or achieve our goals," Abbas said in the meeting.
