3 gunmen killed in clashes with police in Sudan’s North Darfur

Baku-APA. A total of three gunmen were killed on Wednesday and some others injured in clashes with Sudanese police at Kutum area in North Darfur State, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

An armed group burned the police head-office at Kutum locality after confrontations with some policemen, leaving three members of the armed group killed and some injured, according to the report.

"The state of emergency is still continuing in the area while procedures have been taken to prevent use of arms by people other than members of the regular forces," Osman Yousif Kibir, governor of North Darfur State, said.

Kibir has mandated Brig. Mohamed Kamal Nour to supervise the executive affairs of Kutum and Al-Waha localities which have recently witnessed security disorders caused by unidentified armed group, the report said.

On Tuesday, commissioner of Kutum locality in Sudan’s North Darfur state was reported to have survived an assassination attempt when unidentified gunmen attacked his motorcade.

Gunmen also attacked a vehicle belonging to Kutum legislative council at the same day, leaving two people dead and three others injured.
