Türkiye’s tourism revenues exceeded $65 billion last year

"Türkiye has announced its tourism results for 2025, with the figures recorded as a historic record for the country. Last year, Türkiye welcomed 64 million tourists, while tourism revenues reached USD 65.231 billion," said Türkiye’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy.

The minister stated that the results demonstrate sustainable growth in the country’s tourism sector and the further strengthening of its position in the international market.

Minister Ersoy added: “Our target for 2026 is tourism revenue of USD 68 billion.”

Citing data from the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Mehmet Nuri Ersoy emphasized that Turkish tourism has become a strong global player, not just a regional one. According to him, Türkiye ranked 8th among the countries receiving the highest number of tourists worldwide in 2017, and by 2024 had risen to 4th place. In terms of tourism revenues, Türkiye moved up from 15th place in 2017 to 7th place in 2024. The minister also announced that a revenue target of USD 68 billion has been set for 2026.

Ersoy noted that Türkiye’s three largest tourism markets were tourists from the Russian Federation (6.90 million), Germany (6.75 million), and the United Kingdom (4.27 million).

He also added that the “Heritage for the Future” vision and the Night Museums projects are among the successful initiatives that only a limited number of countries in the world have been able to implement, and that Türkiye has become one of the most successful examples in this field.

Emphasizing that the “mini-series” model applied in the promotion strategy has also achieved great success globally, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy noted that just a single episode of the series titled “An Istanbul Story” garnered 32 million views.
