In January of this year, the number of foreigners and non-citizens who visited Azerbaijan was 172,614 people, APA-Economics reports citing the State Statistics Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
65.6% (113,216 people) of those who visited Azerbaijan did so for tourism purposes, while 34.4% (59,358 people) came for other purposes.
In January of the current year, tourists visiting Azerbaijan for tourism purposes spent a total of AZN 205 million 613.4 thousand.
Note that the tourists who spent the most money during the reporting period were citizens of Russia, India, Türkiye, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Kuwait.
Specifically, Russian citizens spent 48.2 million manats, Indian citizens spent 34.4 million manats, Turkish citizens spent 23.3 million manats, Saudi Arabian citizens spent 12.1 million manats, UAE citizens spent 11.4 million manats, Pakistani citizens spent 9 million manats, and Kuwaiti citizens spent 7.8 million manats.
