Tourist flow from Azerbaijan to abroad increases by 21%

Compared to the period from January to August of this year, the total number of Azerbaijani citizens traveling abroad increased by 20.6% to 1,458.6 thousand people, the State Statistical Committee told APA-Economics.

The number of Azerbaijani citizens traveling to Iran increased by 36.3%, the Russian Federation by 16%, Georgia by 14.9%, and Türkiye by 14.8%. Among Azerbaijani citizens, 42.2% traveled to Türkiye, 20.5% to the Russian Federation, 8.7% to Georgia, 8.4% to Iran, and 20.2% to other countries. Of those traveling, 63.9% were men and 36.1% were women.

In the eight months, 69.8% of Azerbaijani citizens traveling abroad used air transportation, 28.1% used rail and road transportation, and 2.1% used sea transportation.
