Tourist arrivals to Azerbaijan increased by nearly 2%

In January-September of this year, from 183 countries 1,948.2 thousand or 1.8 percent less foreign nationals and stateless persons compared to the corresponding period of the previous year visited Azerbaijan, the State Statistical Committee told APA.

According to the information, 24.8 percent of the arrivals were from the Russian Federation, 17.1 percent from Türkiye, 7.9 percent from Iran, 6.8 percent from India, 4.5 percent from Saudi Arabia, 4.2 percent from Georgia, 4.0 percent from Kazakhstan, 3.4 percent from Pakistan, 2.6 percent from China, 2.3 percent each from Uzbekistan and Israel, 1.6 percent from the United Arab Emirates, 1.4 percent from Ukraine, 1.2 percent each from Turkmenistan and Kuwait, 1.1 percent from Belarus, and 13.6 percent from other countries. Of the arrivals, 66.3 percent were men and 33.7 percent were women.

Compared to the corresponding period last year, the number of arrivals from Tajikistan increased 1.9 times, from Israel 1.8 times, from Japan 1.6 times, from China 1.5 times, from Jordan 1.5 times, from Kyrgyzstan by 35.7 percent, from Uzbekistan by 31.6 percent, from Kazakhstan by 19.4 percent, from the USA by 16.3 percent, from Canada by 16.3 percent, from the Netherlands by 16.3 percent, from Germany by 15.2 percent, from Pakistan by 15.1 percent, from Italy by 15.1 percent, and from the Republic of Korea by 10.3 percent.

Compared to the January-September period of 2024, the number of arrivals from European Union member countries increased by 8.5 percent to 88.8 thousand, the number of arrivals from Gulf countries decreased by 4.9 percent to 321.1 thousand, the number of arrivals from CIS countries decreased by 7.2 percent to 669.8 thousand, and the number of arrivals from other countries increased by 3.1 percent to 868.5 thousand.

Of the foreigners and stateless persons arriving in our country, 76.2 percent used air transport, 22.5 percent used railway and automobile transport, and 1.3 percent used sea transport.
