In January-May of this year, 979.9 thousand foreigners and stateless persons from 178 countries came to Azerbaijan, which is 1.5% more compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the State Statistical Committee told APA.
According to the information, 24.6% of the arrivals were from the Russian Federation, 17.7% from Türkiye, 10.7% from India, 8.6% from Iran, 4.4% from Georgia, 3.6% from Kazakhstan, 2.9% from Saudi Arabia, 2.8% from Pakistan, 2.0% each from the United Arab Emirates and Israel, 1.9% each from Uzbekistan and China, 1.4% from Ukraine, 1.3% from Turkmenistan, 1.0% each from Belarus and Kuwait, and 12.2% were citizens of other countries. 68.9% of the arrivals were men, and 31.1% were women.
Compared to the same period last year, the number of visitors from Israel increased 2.5 times, from Tajikistan – 1.7 times, from China – 1.5 times, from Jordan – by 44.3%, from Kyrgyzstan – by 39.5%, from Japan – by 35.4%, from Pakistan – by 21.1%, from Kazakhstan – by 20.4%, from South Korea – by 18.2%, from the Netherlands – by 17.7%, from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates – by 17.5%, from Canada – by 17.0%, from the USA – by 16.0%, from Spain – by 15.7%, from India – by 15.1%, from Italy – by 13.2%, and from Egypt – by 10.6%.
Compared to January-May 2024, the number of arrivals from European Union member states increased by 2.9% to 39.0 thousand people, from Gulf countries decreased by 1.6% to 153.7 thousand people, from CIS countries decreased by 7.8% to 326.7 thousand people, while the number of arrivals from other countries increased by 10.4% to 460.5 thousand people.
73.4% of foreigners and stateless persons who came to Azerbaijan used air transport, 25.2% used rail and road transport, and 1.4% used sea transport.
