In January-September 2024, the total number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan traveling to foreign countries increased by 18.9% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 1 million 647.1 thousand people, the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan told APA-Economics.
The Committee noted that the number of Azerbaijani citizens traveling to Iran increased by 36.6%, to the Russian Federation by 15.2%, to Georgia by 14.3%, and to Türkiye by 12.2%. Of those traveling abroad, 42.1% went to Türkiye, 20.5% to the Russian Federation, 8.7% to Georgia, 8.5% to Iran, and 20.2% to other countries. Of those traveling, 64.0% were men and 36.0% were women.
In January-September 2024, 69.8% of Azerbaijani citizens traveling abroad used air transport, 28% used rail and road transport, and 2.2% used sea transport.
