World travelers have arrived in the village of Mehdiili in Jabrayil district, APA’s Karabakh bureau reports.

The travelers have been introduced to the mine clearance operation in the village area.

Gadir Namazaliyev, the operations chief of ANAMA’s 3rd clearance team, briefed the group members. He noted that demining operations have been ongoing for 171 working days in the Mehdiili/006/05 minefield located in the village of Mehdiili, Jabrayil district, which covers an area of 83,111 square meters: “To date, 85.21% of the area — 58,379 square meters — has been cleared, and 1,077 mines have been detected. Mines found in the area have been neutralized by the demolition team. Of the discovered mines, 922 are anti-personnel mines manufactured in Armenia, and 155 are anti-tank mines made in Russia.”

Note that this visit provides a major opportunity to promote the liberated territories within the framework of “black tourism” and to showcase large-scale reconstruction and restoration efforts.

Recall that over the past four years, international travelers have made 13 visits to Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur through major global travel clubs.
