Azerbaijan holds talks with dozens of countries on visa regime simplification

Negotiations are currently underway with dozens of countries on the simplification of the visa regime, Emil Safarov, Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said, during a public hearing of the Milli Majlis Committee on Labor and Social Policy on the topic “Current state and development prospects of tourism in Azerbaijan,” APA reports.

Emil Safarov noted that the continuation of the project on the introduction of a unilateral visa-free regime is envisaged and that efforts are underway to add new countries to this list in the near future: “The main goal of the project is to apply a visa-free or simplified regime in Azerbaijan’s relations with friendly and strategic partner countries, increase tourist flows without migration risk, and ensure mutual interests. I would also like to note that within the framework of the simplified mechanism applied during the pandemic period, more than 36,000 people visited the country solely for a specific international event.”
