This was a form of education in the Soviet period”, rector of the Azerbaijan Tourism Institute Jafar Jafarov told APA. He said the distance education had some advantages. “The students getting distance education had an opportunity to work. On the other hand, for some reason people don’t consider it as education in our country. But the students getting distance education have a heavy duty. They have fewer educational courses than full-time students. There is a problem of language learning in the distance education program”.

Jafarov said they could think about not full rejection of distance education, but passing it into the new forms. “For example, there is an experience of part-time education programs in the world. We can change the forms of distance education on its basis. There are no notions of courses in Bologna system. The students have an opportunity for individual classes. It depends on the students to make it in full or part-time”.

Jafarov said number of the distance educated students was reduced in the Azerbaijan Tourism Institute. “I suppose the distance education will be in 2011-2012 as well. Probably we will reject it in the next years”.
