Azerbaijan sees 22% rise in number of hotels

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. The number of hotels and hotel type inns rose by 22.2% or 82 units to 452 in Azerbaijan, last year, said the State Statistical Committee.

During this period 89 hotels and hotel-type inns were in operation in Baku, 13 in Sumgait, 8 in Gandja, 8 in Mingechaur, 8 in Naftalan, 2 in Shirvan, 22 in NAR (Nakhchivan Autonomous Repuplic), 41 in Khachmaz, 30 in Masalli, 26 in Shemakhi, 24 in Guba, 16 in Ismayilli, 15 in Shaki, 12 in Lankaran, 11 in Zaqatala, 10 in Gakh, 10 in Gabala, 9 in Gusar, 8 in Lerik and 90 in other regions.

Local citizens accounted 57.3% of those who stayed in hotels and foreigners 42.7%, of whom 44.6% were on business visit.
