Abulfaz Garayev: Tourism companies not posting info on internet to have their licenses reconsidered

At the Hotelweb system presentation, he strictly warned tourism companies not joining this system and not posting info on the internet about the reconsideration of their licenses. â€œAs a developing country Azerbaijan already applies modern information technologies in all infrastructure projects. The tourism sector also needs to use these technologiesâ€, he added.
Within the framework of measures aiming to maintain the development of tourism in Azerbaijan, hotels are advised to ensure that hotel rooms in Azerbaijan can be booked in affordable prices. For this they need to join the Hotelweb and upload detailed information about themselves.

The Hotelweb representative presented the system, saying that about 80% of tours in the world are realized by internet. The system is based on Global Distribution System (GDS) through which Information about 800 000 hotels is available.

Mr. Garayev noted that 12 tourist information centres have already been established in Azerbaijan and work is underway to increase the quantity. Azerbaijani tourism information centerâ€™s access to global network will soon be provided.
The ministry will act along with Tourism Association to supply all the hotels with booklets, route maps and other important info.
