Today at the Shamakhi city, Minister of Emergency Situations General-Colonel Kamaleddin Heydarov held an operative meeting with the Head of Executive Power of the Shamakhi region Tahir Mammadov, Head of Aghsu Executive Power Anvar Seyidaliyev, and Ismayilli Excecutive Power Mirdamad Sadiqov, ONA local bureau reports.
According to the information, the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the measures taken to eliminate the consequences of the earthquake that took place in Shamakhi, Aghsu and Ismayilli regions on February 5 and 6, as well as the complaints of the citizens, the current situation in demolition and construction of new ones instead of damaged houses and as well as the ways to overcome the existing problems. The officials from “Azerenergy” OJSC, “”Azerishiq” OJSC, and “Azersu” OJSC also participated at the meeting.
Minister K.Heydarov also stated that the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev gave important instructions to take necessary measures to eliminate the consequences of the earthquake, and said that the work is done directly under the supervision of the President.
The Minister expressed the importance of the timely implementation of the tasks assigned to the relevant structures during repair and construction works. He noted that the communication lines must be operatively disconnected from the general main network before the construction begins, and immediately switched on after the completion of the construction of the houses. The minister also stressed the importance of acceleration of the documentation of land plots allocated for the construction of the new houses.
The Head of the State Agency for Control of the Construction Safety Jabrail Khanlarov stated that 8891 appeals have been received regarding the earthquake in three regions. 8,749 applications have been received by relevant commissions so far, 5435 of which are in Shamakhi, 2085 in Aghsu and 1229 in Ismayilli. It is revealed that 270 houses in Shamakhi, 266 in Aghsu and 112 in Ismayilli are in damaged emergency situation. In total, there are 648 houses in a state of emergency, and 272 of them have been demolished. Currently, preparatory work is being carried out by the contractor to destroy other houses and carrying out construction work on their places. Construction of new private houses for those citizens is also planned after the allocation of new land plots for the houses in the sloping zone.
The Head of the Executive Power of Shamakhi Region Tahir Mammadov, the Head of Ismayilli Executive Power Mirdamad Seyidov and the Head of Aghsu Executive Power Anvar Seyidaliyev stated about the work done to eliminate the consequences of the earthquake, examination of citizens' applications and investigation of complaints.
The head of contractor construction company also informed about the works done. He stated that construction of the new houses instead of demolished ones is already launched.
Concluding the meeting, K. Heydarov noted that the Institute of Geology of the ANAS and the local executive powers should be careful in the selection of the places for the construction of houses. The particular attention should be paid to the construction of houses at the non-sloping zones. The construction work must be carried out rapidly and qualitative at the same time.
The Minister also specially thanked the First Vice President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva. He recalled that Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva sent volunteers from the first day of the earthquake to the earthquake affected region, and her assistant Anar Alakbarov visited the region several times. The construction of the several houses in Aghsu, Shamakhi and Ismayilli was undertaken by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The minister added that the work is under special attention of Mr President Ilham Aliyev. Therefore, each organization should increase its responsibility. The construction and restoration of the new houses should be completed in a timely manner so that the affected families live in the comfortable and beautiful homes.
The Minister gave instructions to the heads of the relevant bodies for the timely execution of the demolition and construction works in accordance with the plan and finalization until September.
