July is the hottest month in our republic, so this cool weather is not typical for the month”, Umaira Tagiyeva, the Head of National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan Republic (MENR) told APA.
She stated that the temperature generally rises until 40 °C: “Maximum temperature of weather in Baku was 40°C on July 12, 2010, and July 22, 2011. Abnormal temperature degree was observed in Baku on July 1, 2018. Maximum temperature was 42.7°C on that day, and it exceeded record level- an absolute maximum.”
According to her, the coolest weather in July was recorded on July 30, 1918 in Baku: “The minimum temperature of weather was 12.2°C on that day.”
The official of the MENR noted that torrential rain was observed in Baku on July 15, 2012; amount of recorded rainfall of a day by 10 times more than month norm: “The maximal speed of northern wind was 28 m/s in Baku on July 23, 2016, sometimes the speed even reached 30-35 m/s.”
Note that weather condition has been unstable in the country on night form July 12 to 13; lightning and rain have been observed in several northern and western districts.
