Azerbaijani citizen Samir Mehdiyev extradited from Georgia over fraud charges

The Prosecutor General’s Office of Georgia has made a decision on the extradition of Samir Salah Mehdiyev, a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Press Service of the Prosecutor General’s Office told APA.

Thus, in the criminal case under investigation by the Imishli District Police Department, as there were reasonable suspicions that Samir Mehdiyev committed a crime under Articles 178.2.1 and 178.2.4 of the Criminal Code (fraud — if committed by a group of persons acting in collusion, causing significant damage). Accordingly, a decision was made to involve him as an accused, and an international search was announced.

Samir Mehdiyev was detained in the territory of Georgia and brought to the Republic of Azerbaijan under the escort of a special convoy of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice.
