Demolition work has initially started in the Qorchu settlement of the Lachin district, said the Executive Director of the Restoration, Construction and Management Service in Lachin District, Rafig Salmanov, APA’s local bureau reports.
He noted that a total of 319 unusable structures are being demolished: “It is planned to complete the demolition work within two months. The demolition, carried out by the ‘EL SEYM’ company, covers an area of 300 hectares. After the demolition process is completed, it is planned to start the construction works of the first phase in the Qorchu settlement in 2026. Within this phase, project and estimate documents have already been prepared for the construction of 250 individual residential houses. In addition, the construction of a 264-seat school, a 140-seat kindergarten, a medical station, a club-community center, a sports and wellness center, and an administrative building will begin in the Qorchu settlement, along with the construction of roads.”
According to the information, within the framework of the Second State Program on the “Great Return,” construction works for the next phase of the Qorchu settlement are planned to be carried out between 2027 and 2030. During this phase, the construction of 250–300 individual residential houses and three-to-four-story apartment buildings is planned. In total, it is envisaged that one thousand families will be permanently resettled in the Qorchu settlement in the future.
“As it is known, the Qorchu settlement is located near the recently commissioned Lachin International Airport. This will play an important role in providing employment opportunities for the population that will be settled in the settlement in the future.”
