Sharp change to occur in weather conditions in Azerbaijan - WARNING

National Hydrometeorology Department of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources has warned the population regarding sharp change of weather conditions, APA reports.

According to Director of National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Umayra Tagiyeva after anomalous weather condition that continued several periods the weather is expected to change sharply starting from the night of February 7 to February 8. South wind blowing in Baku and Absheron peninsula will be replaced with strong north wind. The maximum speed of the wind will be 30-35 m/s from February 9 till the daytime of February 10. It will strengthen 38-40 m/s in some places.

We recommend the people to be more careful during this period, not park their cars under big trees, keep away from areas where construction works are implemented, and not leave unattended the elder people and children.

In Baku and Absheron peninsula: it is forecasted that the rain expected to fall on February 8 will turn into sleet and snow on February 9, it is supposed that intensive precipitations will fall on some places. As compared with previous days, the air temperature will drop by 15 -18 degrees. On February 9 in the daytime 0-3 degrees of heat is expected, towards the evening and overnight into and in the morning of February 10 the frost of 0-4 degrees will be observed. Therefore it is supposed that the roads will be covered with ice on the night of February 9 to 10 and February 10 to 11 and in the early morning hours of February 10 and 11.

In Azerbaijan’s regions: it is expected that the weather will be occasionally rainy and the sleet and snow will fall in the evening of February 7 beginning from north and west regions and till February 11. It is assumed that the precipitations will be intensive and strong in some places. It is expected that the west wind will intensify and will occasionally strengthen. As compared with previous days, the air temperature will gradually drop by 13-18 degrees. It is supposed that the roads will be covered with ice.

Taking into consideration the sharp change of weather condition, we also recommend the meteorologically sensitive people to be careful about their health.
