Around 43 percent of medical centers in Azerbaijan are currently unfit for service, the Chairman of the State Agency for Compulsory Medical Insurance, Zaur Aliyev, has revealed, APA reports.

Aliyev made the statement during a joint meeting of the Milli Majlis committees' committees on Natural Resources, Energy and Ecology, Labor and Social Policy, Healthcare, International Relations, and Interparliamentary Relations. The session was held to discuss the draft “2026 State Budget” law.

Out of approximately 2,500 medical centers across the country, nearly half are considered inadequate to provide proper medical care, highlighting the need for urgent improvements in the healthcare infrastructure.
