“During January-June of the current year, 3727 tremors have been recorded in the country,” said, Gurban Yetirmishli, head of the Republican Seismological Service Center of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, APA reports.
According to him, 42 of these tremors had magnitudes more than 3.3 and 13 tremors were felt: “The most powerful earthquake occurred in Shamakhi, Agsu and Ismayilli on February 5. Its magnitude was 5.2, its depth was 8 km and its strength was more than 6 points. Seismic activity was recorded in Shamakhi-Aghsu-Ismayilli region after this earthquake.”
G. Yetirmishli added that seismic activity in the country is on the background level: “Everyday, jolts occur but they are weak, not felt. Three days ago earthquake was recorded in Kazakhstan part of the Caspian Sea and it was not also felt."
