Frosty and snowy weather to continue until end of January

It is snowing in most regions of Azerbaijan. Intensive snowfall is observed in some places and it is expected to intensify more toward the evening.

Director of weather forecast bureau of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Umaira Tagiyeva told APA that it will be snowing occasionally in Baku and Absheron peninsula today and tomorrow. North-west windâ€™s speed will reach 15-20 m/s and 23-28 m/s in some places. The weather temperature will be -5â€¦-1 C at night and daytime on January 28-29. Roads will be covered with ice. The wind will soften in the afternoon on January 29. The temperature will be down until -7 C at night to January 30.

Tagiyeva said snowfall would cease in the regions in first half of the day on January 29 and 30, but frosty weather will continue until the end of the month. The temperature will rise until +2 C on January 31. It will be sleeting mostly. The cold weather will dominate in the first days of February.

According to the director of weather forecast bureau, thickness of snow cover was 12 cm in Zagatala-Sheki, 13 cm â€“ in Altiagac, 11 cm â€“ Shahbuz, 18 cm â€“ Guba, 28 cm â€“ Lerik, 60 cm â€“ Rvarud, 45 cm â€“ Saribash. -11â€¦-8 C was recorded in the regions of Great Caucasus. It is continued snowing and expected to intensify toward the evening.
