Snowfall, ice-slick forecast in Baku

Baku. Sevil Zeynalgizi – APA. “Soft weather conditions dominated in Azerbaijan from January 5 to 16 unlike in many European countries. As a result of atmospheric circulation soft air mass moved from south caused such weather conditions. There was no appropriate condition for low temperature. From today onward the temperature will be down as north-west wind intensifies in Azerbaijan, Director of the Hydro-Meteorology Forecast Bureau of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Umayra Tagiyeva.

Cold weather will dominate in the country in the next few days. “The temperature will be down for 5-10 degree in comparison with previous days. There will be heavy precipitation in the northern and western regions of Azerbaijan beginning from January 18. It will be sleety in some regions and intensive and heavy snowfall is expected in the mountainous regions”.

Tagiyeva said rainy weather is expected in Baku and Absheron peninsula in the evening January 18. The rain will turn into sleet on January 19 and it will be snowing at night from January 19 to 20. “The temperature will be down for 8 degrees in comparison with previous days. This process will be accompanied by intensive north wind in the capital. The relevant organizations have been informed about the ice slick threats on the roads”.

Tagiyeva said unstable weather conditions would continue until January 21. “On January, the rain will cease, but no rise of temperature is expected in the third ten-day of January”.
