Chief of the legal department of the Agency Khudayat Hasanli told APA that free advertisement was posted on slando.ru regarding the sale of Azerbaijani national musical instruments tar, kamancha and saz as Armenian musical instruments. The Copyright Agency sent a letter to the website. The letter reads that this is another attempt of plagiarism by Armenians.

“These are Azerbaijani national musical instruments. Armenians attempt to misappropriate the Azerbaijani national musical instruments and other folklore examples. Armenian researchers also proved it. Armenian researcher Nalbandian said “Armenian ashugs can be considered Armenian only because they were born to Armenian families, the musical instruments that they use – tar, kamancha, saz, santoor are Turkish instruments”. Khudayat Hasanli said after the agency sent the letter, slando.ru removed the advertisement from the website,” he said.

The department chief said the Copyright Agency received about 20 appeals concerning Armenian falsifications.

“The Agency has informed about these facts both the World Intellectual Property Organization and the users presenting outside Azerbaijan the national musical instruments and songs as those of Armenians,” he said.
