If the problems occur again, the measures will be taken concerning this school in accordance with the accreditation rules. The status of such schools can be lowered”, chief of accreditation department of the Education Ministry Habib Zarbaliyev told APA.

He said these schools could be given other status.

Zarbaliyev said closing of the non-accredited schools is very strong measure. “The goal of accreditation is not a closing of the schools, but the improving of education quality. I don’t believe that there is any school that even has no minimal indexes”.

Department chief said the accreditation of schools aims to determine the conformity of the process of education, material-technical basis of school, education programs, potential of personnel, financial resources and education infrastructure with the state educational standards and other legal acts.
“Accreditation is a legal guarantee for the determination of the status of a school, extension of its functioning for the next five years,” he said.

The accreditation of schools began in Azerbaijan in December. School-lyceum on physics-mathematics and informatics #27 in Gandja has already undergone accreditation, the results will be known soon. School #16 in Shirvan, school #225 in Baku, gymnasium on natural sciences in Sumgayit, school #164 in Baku, school #10 in Mingachevir, school #1 in Aghdash, schools #4 and 6 in Lankaran, school #3 in Shaki, school #2 in Guba will be accredited.
