Azerbaijan’s Education Minister supports proposals on exemption of higher schools from Value Added Tax

Baku. Kamala Guliyeva – APA. “I support the proposal on exemption of higher schools from Value Added Tax. There should be concessions to education and science in terms of taxes,” Education Minister Misir Mardanov told journalists, APA reports.

Minister said steps are being taken in all parts of the world to exempt scientific and educational institutions from taxes.
“If this is applied in Azerbaijan, it will give an impetus to the development of science and education,” he said.

Minister also said the draft education strategy of Azerbaijan is ready. The Education Commission will meet in a few days and submit the draft to President.
Misir Mardanov underlined that there are serious innovations in the document.
“It contains views concerning the relocation of higher schools. But no concrete steps have been taken yet,” he said.
Minister noted that it can be realized, if it is envisaged in Azerbaijan’s investment projects. There is no serious improvement concerning this yet.
