International camp of young environmentalists kicks off in Gabala

APA reports that the purpose of the international event is to coordinate the role of society, especially youth for prevention of threats caused by ecological problems. The Gabala camp, which is attended by representatives of more than 35 countries, must determine what the governments and societies can do in this sphere.

In her keynote speech, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva said that young people had special responsibility for the prevention of ecological problems that these problems donâ€™t cause serious consequences. She spoke about the work done in the sphere of environmental security of the Caspian Sea, planting new forests, protection of rare animal species in Azerbaijan: â€œ2010 was declared the â€œYear of Ecologyâ€ in Azerbaijan and much work was carried out towards the improvement of ecological situation in the country. The environmental security is our common workâ€.

In his speech, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Huseyn Bagirov said that the increase of Azerbaijanâ€™s financial capacities create conditions to increase the investments in ecological sphere. Minister reminded the opening of Oguz-Gabala-Baku water pipeline for supplying the Azerbaijani population with drinking water.

Then in his speech, Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov underlined that the youth had a special role in the prevention of ecological problems. According to him, it is necessary for the worldâ€™s youth to act jointly to achieve progress in this sphere. Gabala camp can play a serious role in this respect.
