Baku hosts 16th session of Coordinating Committee of Caspian littoral states

Baku. Sevil Zeynalgizi â€“ APA. The 16th session of Coordinating Committee of the Caspian littoral states on Hydrometeorology and Pollution Monitoring of the Caspian Sea (CASPCOM-16) organized by the National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources (MENR) has kicked off in Baku. APA reports that the representatives of hydro-meteorological organizations of the Caspian littoral states, World Meteorological Organization, UNâ€™s Environment Program, navigation and aviation organizations, agriculture facilities functioning in the Caspian Sea, as well as scientists and NGOs participate at the session.

Assistant Director of National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Rza Mahmudov said that the state of operative maritime meteorological service and maritime meteorological monitoring network, cooperation issues between the CASPCOM and the Framework Convention for the Protection of the Marine environment of the Caspian Sea and future plans will be discussed at the session: â€œThe global climate changes, changes in Caspian Seaâ€™s hydro-meteorological condition and seaâ€™s pollution turned into a problem for Caspian littoral states. From this standpoint the session has a great significanceâ€.

Mahmudov said that it is possible to prevent Caspian Seaâ€™s problems, level, temperature, wind regime and various abnormalities with joint efforts of the Caspian littoral states.
