Caspian Sea’s level decreases

Baku. Sevil Zeynalgizi – APA. “The fluctuation of the Caspian Sea’s level damage most of all Azerbaijan among the Caspian littoral states”, said Assistant Director of National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Rza Mahmudov, APA reports.

According to him, the lowering of Caspian Sea’s level is observed in recent years: “Various reports are published in the press on the fluctuation of the Caspian Sea’s level. According to the forecasts prepared jointly by Caspian littoral states and Russian Hydrometeorology organization, I can exactly say that the lowering of Caspian Sea’s level is observed in recent years. It is based on real numbers”.

Mahmudov said that the Caspian Sea’s level decreased by 9sm in 2010, and 20sm in 2011: “The climate changes and rivers debouching into the Caspian Se, especially Volga river, it is forecasted that in 3-4 years – till 2015-2016 the small fluctuation of the sea level will decrease by 13-14sm. ’
